BayFest Adds Anita Baker and Stone Temple Pilots to Festival LineupTwo major acts have been added to BayFest's 2009 lineup. Anita Baker will perform on the Miller Lite Stage and Stone Temple Pilots will perform on the Pepsi Stage, both on Friday, October 2. When paired with previously-announced country headliner Alan Jackson, these three huge acts make for one of the biggest nights in BayFest history.
With eight Grammy awards and four platinum albums, Anita Baker is R&B royalty. Classics like "Giving You the Best That I Got," "Just Because," and "Fairy Tales" are among her many fan favorites. This appearance marks Baker's first at BayFest.
Since the early 90s, Stone Temple Pilots has racked up 15 singles on the Billboard Top Ten, winning a "Best Hard Rock Performance" Grammy in 1994 for "Plush," and selling more than 25 million copies of five albums worldwide. A dominant force in rock music since its beginning, the group's impressively extensive and top-selling music has cemented its standing as one of the most successful rock groups of all time.
Lineups for the Gospel Stage, Café Stage and Radio Avalon Jazz Tent were also announced and are available at www.bayfest.com. Local/regional acts Hamelin, Stereo Hype, Color the Coast, El Cantador, The Ugli Stick, Elle Duhe Band, Hank Becker, Fat Man Squeeze, Jon Miller Band, and Wes Loper Band are all performing this year. Times and stages for these acts will be announced at a later date.
