A teacher at Central Baldwin Middle School in Robertsdale has been placed on paid administrative leave for allegedly having inappropriate contact with a 13-year old student. The Robertsdale Police Department was notified about the complaint on New Year's Eve."Anytime anything involves a juvenile in a situation where someone has control over them such as a teacher or anyone in that capacity, it's a very serious matter," says Sgt. Rex Bishop.
Bishop would not tell News 5 exactly what they believe happened, but says the investigation is centered around inappropriate text messages and other forms of communication between the teacher and the 13-year old girl.
"This is the very beginning stages of this investigation," says Bishop. "There are no charges, no arrests at this time, it's my understanding the teacher has been places on administrative leave by the school board."
School officials confirmed the suspension but would not release the teacher's name.
