He worked for General Motors for more than 30 years. Now he has a website encouraging the rest of the country to boycott Alabama. Babiasz says he doesn't want anyone to come to Alabama, vacation here, or do business here, all because Alabama Senator Richard Shelby has lead the a fight against the bail out bill.
Senator Shelby says the Detroit auto companies are a failure and they have waisted billions of dollars. The Senator says he will not vote for a bailout bill for the automobile companies unless they are restructured.
Babiasz says he has to defend the workers at GM, Ford and Chrysler. He believes the problems the American auto industry is facing is the result of the banking system and a lack of governmental oversight. Babiasz wants to make it clear he has no disrepect for the people of Alabama, "they are fine people, they just picked a bad rep[resentative]."
Senator Shelby says he won't back the current bailout bill, "it might happen but not with my vote."
The $14 Billion bailout plan died on the Senate floor Thursday night as discussions over union auto wages broke down.
