Mike Ross is still adjusting to life as a father. "I wouldn't have it any other way," says Ross. "I'm going to be a father to these kids and take care of them. They come home and I help them with school work every night and make them dinner."
The 22-year old Foley man was thrown in parenthood when police say his father, David Mumford, shot and killed his mother on Father's Day. Ross is now taking care of his two younger brothers. Adjusting to life without their mother and a father behind bars has been difficult. Now, the trio is facing a "new" challenge. A Baldwin County judge reduced Mumford's bond from more than a million dollars to 107-thousand dollars.
"I wish he wouldn't have, personally I wish they would have doubled it," says Ross. "I'm really upset and mad about it, I couldn't believe he'd actually lower his bail considering everything he's done."
Ross fears if his dad gets out of jail, he and his siblings could be in danger. Ross says his father is capable of anything.
"They're pretty scared, they think he's going to come after them."
Baldwin County Judge Charles Partin is the one who decided to reduce Mumford's bond. We called Partin's office Friday to talk to him about his decision, but nobody returned our phone calls.
