MOBILE COUNTY, Alabama - Not even a week out of training, an Alabama Army National Guard medic has to deliver a baby on the interstate. Pvt. Brigette Bennett says she was fresh out of Army Combat Medic training when she drove up on a wreck near the I-10 Bayou La Batre exit. After stopping to help, she was faced with an even bigger emergency. A woman was in labor while stuck in traffic. It's a good thing Bennett had some OB-GYN training because a baby boy was on the way and fast, "they were like what's your name and I was like Brigette and they were like oh well we can't name a boy Brigette so I was like no I don't think that'd be a good idea but they were like well if it would have been a girl that would have been a good name for it but they named him Adam," said Pvt. Bennett. Adam's father whose son was actually born this Summer says his little boy is doing just fine. Dad also says they're glad Pvt. Bennett was there that day to help out.
