SARALAND, Alabama - There's new information in the murder of a Saraland soldier.Family members identify the victim as 57 year old Anthony Embley, Sr. They said he was an active member of the U.S. Army and National Guard.
Saraland Police found his body in his home on Williams Avenue Wednesday afternoon.
Police Chief Kevin Anderson said, "The autopsy was conducted this morning. The results are not back as of yet."
But police did say the victim's car was found in the parking lot of the Sahara Club, a nightclub on Schillinger Road in Semmes.
Chief Anderson said, "We are in the process right now of looking at the evidence inside the car, or seeing if there is any evidence inside the car."
The sister of the club's owner said they don't believe Embley had any connection with the Sahara.
Jean Miller said, "She checked the membership cards. You have to have a membership card, its a private club, to come in and, the gentleman, the deceased gentleman, was not in our file system."
Owner Cathy Newbill said she was told by authorities that Embley's car was stolen, and she believes the incident could be related to a break-in at the club Monday morning.
Newbill's sister said its not unusual to find cars abandoned in the parking lot.
Miller said, "People sometimes pull in here and leave their cars and, after four days, my sister has them towed away."
In the meantime, the investigation continues.
When asked if he had a person of interest in the case, Chief Anderson said, "As of right now, I can't reveal any of that information. I don't want to do anything that would jeopardize the case."
On Wednesday, one of Embley's sons talked about his father's death.
When asked if he had any idea why something like this would happen, Tony Embley said, "No. But, I promise you, I want to find out who did it and I want to find out why."
Police found Embley's body after co-workers became worried about him.
