MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - Shipmaker Austal USA has laid off 15 workersfrom its facility on the Mobile Rivers and said it plans to cut
another 47.
The company's vice president for external affairs, Bill Pfister,
said Friday the cuts were due to work winding down on a vessel for
Hawaii Superferry and the company not getting an expected contract
on March 26.
The company said it still employs more than 1,000 workers at the
facility.
