AUBURN, Ala. (AP) - The Auburn Tigers tried to get physicalduring their first scrimmage of the spring.
Even the quarterbacks were fair game during some of the 90 plays
Saturday at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
Coach Gene Chizik said the emphasis was on running the football
and being very physical. He said about two-thirds of the offensive
plays were runs.
Chizik said quarterbacks Kodi Burns, Neil Caudle and Barrett
Trotter received pretty much equal snaps and that there isn't much
separation among the three contenders for the starting job. All
three got time in live action, where defenders were allowed to hit
the passers.
Quarterbacks are usually off-limits in practice.
The scrimmage was closed to the public and media. No statistics
were released.
