AUBURN, Ala. (AP) - Auburn athletic director Jay Jacobs says he
was shocked when Tommy Tuberville resigned as football coach.
Jacobs said Thursday that he and university President Jay Gogue
tried to talk him out of it the previous day and had never
considered firing him.

Auburn has hired consultant Bill Carr to help with the search
for a new coach. Jacobs said to his knowledge no university
representative has been in contact with a potential candidate.
Auburn's wish list reportedly could include Texas Tech's Mike
Leach, Louisiana Tech's Derek Dooley and current coaches-in-waiting
Jimbo Fisher of Florida State and Will Muschamp at Texas.
Jacobs said there were no financial constraints for the hire.
Tuberville stepped down after 10 seasons with the Tigers.

I am by far an Auburn fan. However, I live in Alabama and hear about all Auburn games because my husband is an Auburn fan. My self, I choose LSU! Tommy Tuberville is a great coach. He had a lot of success in the 2006-2007 season. Like other teams, there are a lot of seniors who graduated last year. Leaving the teams with a number of Freshmen. That seems to hurt good teams drastically. LSU had also lost a lot of it’s seniors and have freshmen now. I don’t think that Tommy T. should leave. He will be a success for another team. Just wait and see!

No suprise here.  This is the SEC and the alumni have high expectations.  Tommy will be fine.  Someone else will pick him up and hopefully he will create another succesful program in the conference.  And yes, it is the coaches fault when the players “don’t show up to play”.  A coach’s greatest responsibility is to provide leadership.  If he can’t lead and motivate his players then his teaching skills and knowledge have little worthiness.  I think that it is obvious that Auburn wants to make change to the way that they play football.  I believe that desire to play more of a spread offense like FL.  I mould look for them to make an offer to Mike Leach from Texas Tech.  This guy passes the ball for a living and would probably be an excelent candidate to make the changes that Auburn is lookinf for
