AT&T Bringing 300 New Jobs To Alabama

Alabama Mississippi  AT&T Inc. plans a regional headquarters operation in Birmingham for one division and will hire 300 workers for a call center at the same site.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - AT&T Inc. plans a regional headquarters
operation in Birmingham for one division and will hire 300 workers
for a call center at the same site.
AT&T says the Gulf States headquarters will handle its consumer
and mobility division. The unit is responsible for wireless
operations, retail stores and offerings such as the new the U-verse
television service.
Company officials say the Birmingham operation will oversee
those activities in Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and northwest
Florida.
AT&T is staffing the unit with personnel from Birmingham and
transfers from Mobile, Louisiana and elsewhere.
