The man wanted for robbing an Atmore bank has been captured in Florida after he stabbed an officer four times.

Inglis Police Chief Steve Dixon tells News 5 his officer spotted Chad Jeter sleeping in a pick-up truck around 4:00 a.m. this morning. When the officer stopped to question Jeter, Dixon says Jeter stabbed his officer four times and took off into a nearby marsh.

The officer was bleeding profusely from the neck, so he called for help. The Inglis Police Department, Levy County Sheriff’s Office, Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, Cross City Correctional K-9 team and the US Coast Guard responded. They searched 3 hours before calling in bloodhounds which tracked down Jeter 20 minutes later.

Jeter is accused of robbing the First National Bank and Trust in Atmore Tuesday afternoon. Dixon says Jeter was carrying a lot of money when he was captured.

On top of the original bank robbery charges, Jeter is now charged with attempted murder of a police officer and resisting arrest.

The officer who was stabbed was treated and released.

WOW! What a horrible situation for the officer to be ambushed unexpectedly like that. Thank goodness he’s OK and I hope this guy rots in jail.
Law Enforcement is one of the most dangerous jobs. I applaud them for a job well done.

I hope the Police let the K-9 attack.

Ooops on typos before the grammar police attack=Hope the cop will be OK. Yeah, mob-only criminals have rights, you know, to a fair trial and all that. God forbid the police try to do their job, or they are “accused” of something-the militia is there to hang them. Guess they think the criminal was right on,on this. Probably sitting around toasting him…

God forbid the cops put a beat down on this guy everyone will think he should sue. Now that a cop is stabbed and no beat down given where are all the comments about sueing and justice and blah blah blah. The Cop and his family should sue the hell out of this POS.
But of course the cop gets paid to risk this type of injury he shouldnt be entitled to anything right… BLAH

I wonder why they didn’t beat him. This guy stabbed the cop in the neck. I hope the cop is okay.
