Daphne Police Department News Release"On 4.8.2009, on a tip from the public, detectives went to the home of James Kevin Trehern to interview him about the recent thefts from Eastern Shore Toyota and Tameron Honda. While at his residence, Trehern confessed to some of the thefts and gave consent to search his property. Several stolen item from the car dealerships were recovered at Trehern’s house.
The investigation led to Thomas J Lewis II, who was interviewed on 4.8.2009 and again on 4.9.2009. Lewis also confessed to the thefts at the car dealerships.
More of the stolen property was recovered in Grand Bay from a third person. Detectives have recovered about 80 % of the property that was stolen. Detectives are still attempting to recover the remaining property that was stolen from Eastern Shore Toyota and Tameron Honda.
At this time, Trehern and Lewis are the only suspects in this case. It is believed that they sold or traded some of the property. The recovery of the remaining property is now the focus of the investigation.
Trehern and Lewis have both been charged with one count of Theft of Property in the 1st degree and one count of Theft of Property 2nd degree. There is possibly more charges pending against Trehern and Lewis. This will be reviewed when the investigation is complete."
