Officials with the Coast Guard say a 39-year old man has died in an apparent drowning after his boat struck the State Docks in Bayou La Batre. Although it is unclear the exact cause of death, it is assumed the man was struck unconscious and fell into the water after the accident. They say he was not wearing a life jacket.

The Coast Guard says the boater was alone and no one else was hurt. The investigation is still ongoing and we will bring you the latest details as they become available.

ok,mustuknow i do know the family and he was a loving father and husband. he had plenty of loving family and most of them dont need to see any more grusome stuff then seeing him there on their own. it hurt them plenty anough so you can go own somewhere with that. and for those of you who made this video you television reporters are dispecable. you dont care about how anyone feels how his children have to see that on the news after already going through anough, you jus want to get breaking news. well heres your breaking news, (◣_◢)┌∩┐. it’s just wrong. and for those of you who cared this doesnt apply to you.

I wish that this news station website would remove this video.  I do know the family of this man whom will be greatly missed, and out of the privacy of this family this shouldn’t have been placed here without there permission.  My prayers go out to this family in there time of need.  God Bless YOu!!!

I understand that society usually wants all the gory details, but sometimes mere words are enough.  I am just trying to put myself in the shoes of this man’s grieving wife whom I am quite sure would like to shield their young children from these images of their father.

For the record, sensationalism is the heart of journalism.  Don’t get me wrong, I understand that it is part of the story and frankly no one really wants to see pictures of the police cars and piers….. People want to see the death and emotions of those directly affected.  We live in a society of CSI & Law and Order where most have been desensitized to the grusome aspects of murder and other violent crimes that have become a hourly, daily, weekly part our society.

I do know this man and I think that it is disgusting that the media insists on posting video showing the covered body!!

Does anyone know who this man was, whats his name. Very unfortunate….
