Eight families have been displaced from their homes by one fire. The fire that occured at the Anton Square Apartments on Anton St caused about Eight-Hundred Thousand Dollars in damage to 8 units in the apartment building. The Prichard Fire Chief says all 8 units were destroyed. Occupants tell the Prichard Fire Department that the fire started on the porch of one of the upstairs apartments but that is still being investigated. The American Red Cross is assisting the families affected, Elizabeth Saunders with the Red Cross says the families will be provided with food, clothing and shelter for the next three to seven days.
