The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have released Mix who signed with the team during the offseason.

4:11 p.m.
Anthony Mix would not talk to reporters after he posted a five-thousand dollar bond and was released from jail. But his attorney did.

"As soon as Mr. Mix heard that law enforcement was looking for him, he turned himself in," says attorney Spencer Davis. "Mr. Mix didn't commit any crime, this young lady in this case is apparently a victim of someone, but it's a manipulative mother, not Mr. Mix."

The former Auburn football star and wide receiver for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was indicted on a misdemeanor charge of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The initial police investigation involved allegations of sex involving an underage girl. Questions about why the grand jury did not return a felony rape indictment have surfaced, but since grand jury testimony is "secret"...that question will probably never be answered.

"It's probably because the evidence is very weak and they decided to throw the D-A's office a bone and indict him for something rather than nothing but ultimately, my client will be vindicated," says Davis.

Telling her son to be strong, Carolyn Mix hugged Anthony before he drove off to face a new challenge, a challenge unlike anything he's ever seen before on the gridiron.

"I'm going to support him," says Carolyn Mix. "His family is going to support him, we're not going to hold our heads down or turn our back on him. There's two sides to every story."

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been notified about the Mix arrest. Mixs' attorney says the team is supporting him and says Mix will report to training camp.
