George Brown says he lost his best friend.

"He walked down there and gator grabbed him," says Brown. "There could have been 50 armed men and nobody could have saved him."

Brown's eleven-year old lab, Shamrock was attacked and killed by an alligator on the Fourth of July. The Browns live on a canal right off the Causeway in Spanish Fort.

"It could have happened to me or you or to a kid just like it did to Shamrock," says Brown. "It's their habitat, they're all over the place. We just make sure we stay on dry land now."

"I feel bad for the Brown family," says alligator control agent Gary Casper. Casper was called in to help remove the alligators. "But what we don't want to happen is for a gator to pull a small child in and hurt a child."

Casper trapped and removed two alligators near Brown's home, including the gator that killed Shamrock. Casper says he's received several alligator nuisance calls from people in both Mobile and Baldwin Counties. On Tuesday, a petowner in Bon Secour says an alligator killed his dog. The dog was fetching a ball when an alligator attacked it.

“Id rather see 10,000 alligators die than see one child injured” WOW….Pretty powerful statement there….The word propaganda comes to mind…not to mention genocide. Lets do away with all schoolastic sports….better to do that, than see one child injured….

Jenfur25, I have to take your word about under age drinking,tobacco use and smoking HOOKAH? You seem to be far more familiar with those things than me. WHAT IS HOOKAH? AS for Gary Casper or son I’ve never met either as far as I know and I would have to base my preliminary opinions on what I’ve heard from people such as your self as on the above mentioned habits and DEW26m on his dealings with I believe he said junior. The better informed you are the more correct your opinion will be. Do you have something to contradict what DEW26M said ? I would like to hear it if you do. WHAT IS HOOKAH ? I,ve never heard of HOOKAH.

Amazing how people can turn a story about a dog DYING from an alligator….into how they feel about someone…....

Seriously, DO any of you HONESTLY think that people can be influenced about YOUR personal feelings about someone when they are confronted with a deadly alligator.

Since most of you have opinions….HERE IS MINE. GARY CASPER and HIS SON….are amazing people. NONE OF YOU PEOPLE know either of them personally, I feel that you should put your efforts into something a little more worthwhile…and see if you can benefit from that instead of bashing strangers on a news website…

There are a lot of worthy causes….how about efforts into underage drinking or underage tobacco use!! COME ON PEOPLE…...quit smoking the HOOKAH!!

Did that gator skull have any gold filled teeth in it? He must be a big believer in “BEAUTY IS IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER”, And you were left to beholding the skull. I can see what you mean. Get’em DEW!

OOPS, I have been corrected, it was his SON, I’m assuming Gary Casper JR., that ripped me off. But, they both hunt and kill what they consider “nuisance gators” rather than relocating them somewhere else around the delta. As I previously stated, they were there first. Just because you can see a gator, does not make him a threat. Truth be told George Brown and his wife or their neighbors probably have been feeding this gator for years, and the gator come up looking for some hand-outs, and instead ate the dog. Most alligators are very shy of humans, I used to fish out around the battleship parkway, and see hundreds a day. If they see or hear you, they will move along.

HAHAHA, to be honest with you guys, the GATORS are just part of the reason I can’t stand Gary Casper. About 8 years ago, he had an old Ford Truck for sale, and told me he wanted $500 for it. I asked him if I sold it for more than that, would he let me pocket all above 500$. He said “Sure bud no problem.” Well I sold the truck for $800 and guess what, the sorry S.O.B took off, and gave me a GATOR skull, and told me it was worth $250. I’m gonna be nice and not say where I told him to STICK IT. I’m pretty sure you catch my drift. So I think I got a pretty good basis for calling him a “LIAR and a THIEF” basically because he LIED and STOLE from me. My momma always told me “IF THE SHOE FITS WEAR IT!!!!”

I don’t have a gator at this time for a pet but I have in the past. I’ve got some coons that show up pretty regularly, raccoons that is, and they are death on cats. The one I had a few days ago was one mean coon, I believe he could naw your leg off but I got him back into the woods. He keeps coming back to see if there is any handouts.
