Alabamians Pile Up Credit Card Debt

Alabama Credit Cards New report says Alabamians are falling behind on payments at a higher rate than most other states.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Tapped out for cash, many Alabamians
say, "Just charge it." A credit reporting agency says Alabamians
are piling up credit card debt and falling behind on payments at a
higher rate than most other states.
A survey by Chicago-based TransUnion, one of the nation's three
major credit reporting bureaus, found that residents of Alabama
owed an average of $2,014 per credit card in the second quarter,
the third highest figure among the states.
TransUnion says only balances for Alaska -- $2,493 per credit
card -- and Tennessee -- $2,109 per card -- surpassed Alabama.
Iowa's average card debt of $1,280 was the lowest.

As a victim of credit card theft, I will say firsthand that it wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it would be to get things straightened out. Took a few phone calls a little paperwork but that’s the price of doing business. For some people credit cards are very much a necessity. I do alot of international travel and carrying a lot of cash is simlpy not an option.

Responsibilty and watching yor credit report is vital to being proactive against I.D. theft. So how about not putting that anti-patriot spin on every subject. Your quest for greed is sickening!

MeAmerican, why dont you try kissing the backside of my credit card. i was making a statement if you do not like it put me on ignore. a lot of people do not realize they have even lost their credit card until its to late. its not only my profit but it helps drive the cost of goods up.

You so miss my point. AS USUAL!! To busy being miss knowitall that you can’t see outside your own agenda. In the event of an emergency it’s nice to have some resource to fall back on. I understand that when someone walks into your c-store to buy some little item w/a c.c. it digs into your profit.
