Congressional newcomers also got their chance to speak to south Alabama today. First term congressmen Bobby Bright of Montgomery and Parker Griffith of Huntsville headed up a panel discussion before the governor's forum. They talked about their initial impressions of life in Washington DC. The two freshmen also told the audience about how previous experience in government helps them in higher office.

“A lot of folks say keep your enemies close, I had to keep my friends close, because many thought since they were my friend or had helped me become mayor they would get special treatment,” joked Democratic Representative Bobby Bright. The two new congressmen also discussed how they were able to make the transition from local politics to national office.
This event was also sponsored by the Business Council of Alabama.
