MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - The Alabama Revenue Department is
offering a clean slate to people who clear up old taxes.
Gov. Bob Riley and state Revenue Commissioner Tim Russell
announced Thursday the department will waive penalties and not seek
criminal prosecutions against people or businesses that voluntarily
come forward to file past-due returns. The program, called
Operation Clean Slate, also applies to anyone who amends their tax
returns to properly report their tax liabilities.
The program runs Feb. 1 to May 15.
People seeking information about the program can call (334)
242-1055 or e-mail cleanslaterevenue.alabama. gov.
