MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - A seven-term member of the Alabama
Senate, W.H. "Pat" Lindsey of Butler, has died. He was 72.
Lindsey was found dead in his bed Sunday morning while on a
hunting trip in Boligee in west Alabama. State Sen. Roger Bedford
and Lt. Gov. Jim Folsom Jr., who were also on the trip, said
Lindsey was found in his bed when the others started preparing to
leave from a home of friends who had invited them hunting.
Folsom said Lindsey was in good spirits the previous evening and
showed no signs of any pain.
Gov. Bob Riley said Lindsey's leadership will be missed.
Senate Majority Leader Zeb Little of Cullman says Alabama lost a
great public servant, calling Lindsey "a senator's senator, who
with intellect, grace and wit, could outplay, outwork and
outmaneuver anyone when fighting for the people of Alabama."
Lindsey's district included Baldwin, Choctaw, Clarke, Conecuh,
Escambia, Mobile, Monroe and Washington counties.
In Mobile, University of South Alabama President Gordon Moulton
said during Lindsey's 12 years on the USA board of trustees,
Lindsey was interested in helping the people of Alabama by
improving USA's academic and health care missions. Moulton added:
"We will truly miss him."
Survivors include a sister, Kay Kimbrough; two children, Patrick
Lindsey and Lori Champion; and two grandchildren. Funeral
arrangements are pending.

Yes dougstech he is a current Senator. Governor Riley will call for a Special Election to fill his seat until the enteire AL Legislature is re-elected in 2010. So who ever gets elected during the Sepcial Election will only serve a year before having to run again.

Is he a current senator? If so, doesn’t this mean that govenor riley will appoint a replacement?
