MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Another group of Alabama Army NationalGuard personnel are preparing to deploy to Afghanistan.
A send-off ceremony for the 16-member team will be held March 27
at Fort George C. Wallace armory in Montgomery.
Sgt. Katrina Timmons, a Guard spokeswoman, said soldiers will
train the Afghan army.
The team, commanded by Lt. Col. Mike Edwards of Centreville,
will be given pre-deployment training at Fort Riley, Kansas, before
heading overseas.
The Guard said about 1,600 soldiers assigned to other Alabama
units also will deploy to Afghanistan this summer.
