MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Motorists traveling along Interstate 65in south Alabama on Wednesday will see state transportation
employees and state troopers practicing for a hurricane evacuation.
It's the state Department of Transportation's annual rehearsal
for reversing the southbound traffic to allow all four lanes to
carry northbound traffic from the Alabama coast to Montgomery when
a hurricane is approaching.
Transportation officials say about 200 department employees will
be involved in the rehearsal, but no traffic will actually be
reserved or detoured.
