Officer Brandon Sigler worked as a Mobile Police Officer but was also a courtesy officer at Tyler Ridge Apartments in West Mobile. The courtesy officer agreement allows an officer to live at a complex for reduced rent if they provide security.

On Tuesday night, Mobile Police say Officer Sigler was trying to break up a fight between a few girls in the parking lot of the complex. Officer Sigler reportedly broke up that fight but there was more trouble ahead.

A short time later, the boyfriend of one of the girls showed up. 18-year old Richard Hollingsworth admits he had a weapon but was only going over to the apartments to protect his girlfriend. It didn't take long for Hollingsworth and Officer Sigler to find each other.

Hollingsworth says he had no idea that Sigler was a cop and just panicked when he saw the gun on Sigler's hip. Then, he fired that one deadly shot.

Richard Hollingsworth talked to our cameras as he left for jail. "I showed up to save my girlfriend, guy told us to leave with a pistol on his hip. I got really scared, pulled a pistol. What do you wanna say to his family? He's dead I'm so sorry. I'll never to be able to say it enough. Y'all pray for me"

Hollingsworth has been charged with capital murder, a drug charge and possession of an altered firearm. Police say the pistol he used to kill Sigler was stolen from a sheriff's deputy last year. Hollingsworth is at the Baldwin County jail because Sigler's mother works at Mobile Metro.

I agree with you about his actions Rmseek. He deserves whatever punishment the courts think is fit for him. Chances are if it had not been this man that he killed, then it would had been someone else. Still don’t know all the circumstances around what happened. All we know is he shot a man and killed him. The moments leading up to him pulling the trigger are still unknown.  What actually happened to make him pull the trigger is still unknown. No doubt about it, he is guilty. He freely admitted that. Now it is up to a judge and jury to decide the rest.

I’m not getting into a Religion debate with you-you can take that to the forum boards under Religion if you want. This is about a man, officer or not, who was coldly, and calculatedly murdered by your “friend.” So you are saying he went from being an agnostic/atheist, to a born again Christian-in a 24 hour period? You are saying that he had this sudden “revelation” in jail that he was on the wrong track and needed God to take control of his life? As I said, good for him if he did. Too bad he didn’t do it BEFORE-then we would not be burying a truly GOOD GUY. More often than not, jailhouse salvation is an act for mercy from the courts, and a pull for “sympathy.” Sorry he gets NO sympathy from me.The majority of people will see him for what he is-a danger to society who deserves to sit in jail or on the electric chair. Do you honestly believe that he would not have eventally killed someone(if not multiple people) at some other time had this not happened? Not fit for society.

The fact of the matter is this Tim. You have your beliefs and other people have theirs. No reason what so ever to come on and mock those for what they believe. To be honest, I could care less what people believe in. If you worship a napkin and that napkin is what gives you strength then good for you! As long as your are faithful to that napkin all is good. I think what is in question here is Joey went into this ordeal as an atheist and now it is unclear as to if he is just putting on a show for the cameras. I do not know this fellow at all so I can’t make that judgment. I hope that he has or will find God. I personally can not condemn this guy to he~ll, and despite what he has done, I personally would not wish that on him or anyone else.

What have I done in my life? Lady you dont even know me.

For one. I have plenty of life ahead of me, i’m only 18 years old. In the Fall I will be going to college to study microbiology and go pre-med. From there i will do more in 1 year that you have in your entire life.

For two. Your logic makes no sense. how would “scoring drugs” help anyone? That was just a pitiful ad hominem attempt by you, yet again.

For three. I haven’t been Joey’s friend in a long time. Not since he made the decision to hang around with people i knew werent good people. Not like Joey was. But just hanging with bad people does in no way make you a bad person.

Finally. You should be ashamed. And you know why. You know nothing of the true character of this young man. All you know is what the media projects to your tiny ant brain. Which you accept, without question, and react accordingly with disdain and knowledgeless disapproval.

Nice. A “Grown” woman resorting to making fun of my last name with the word “weinie”...Really helps credibility.

FACT-Many people have healthy babies everyday who are atheists.

FACT-Many people who pray for healthy babies recieve stillborns, miscarriages, and even being barren.

———-

Not to mention…(and im not trying to be morbid or mean any disrespect by this)...but im pretty certain Officer Siglers Fiancee prayed for his safety plenty of nights, including that one.

Has he repented, or is this just more show for the cameras? Did his lawyer instruct him to cry and look humble? You are trying to conform the Bible to what YOU want it to be, not to what is written.

Again, why don’t YOU do something, other than defend a drugging, murdering, thug. What have YOU done in YOUR life to help anyone other than to perhaps score drugs, like your “friend.”

No FeeneyWeinie-Since my husband is a LE enforcement officer-we are HELPING in more ways than you can imagine, along with other LE agencies. To get forgiveness, you have to ASK for it, and you have to accepted God as your saviour. Not with a panicked heart, out of desperation, but with a true and open heart. Are you saying he went from being agnostic/atheist to a Christian in 24 hours, out of a true heartfelt belief? If so,good for him.

Prayers-I prayed for all my kids before I had them, and God delivered them healthy and whole. I pray daily to keep my husband and kids safe. I prayed that my grandmother would live through her cancer to see her grandchildren born. I prayed for peace after my dad was killed. I have prayed for help to make ends meet at times. I have prayed for jobs. I have prayed for help in making major life decisions-like buying property, a new car, etc. Do you need more? Prayer works-you might try it sometime. But remember, to always pray that HIS will be done.

NOT TO MENTION. Even if he does, “mete the final justice to your thug friend”, then if God is truly existent, and is who is he preached to be…he will forgive Joey for making a mistake, since He has already repented his “sin”...and he will be accepted into heaven.

Awww…..loss number 2 for you seeky ;]

Seek…if you really DID follow your religion…perhaps you’d understand that the bible preaches FORGIVENESS.
“If a man steals from you…give him everything else you own.” Paraphrased of course.
And im doing a perfectly fine job running my own life, morally and otherwise. WithOUT the “help” of church. Thankyou though for your kind offer ;].
Also, if you can give me one physical, tangible, or even slightly believable piece of evidence to support any prayer ever actually affecting anything thats ever happened, i’ll be stunned. Now on the other hand i can show you an infinite amount of instances where donating/ lending a hand to help someone has actually HELPED.

Hm…crazy idea for you isnt it?

Actually physically trying to HELP the situation? Instead of sitting in the background doing nothing but crying over spilt milk.

Why don’t YOU do something for them? Why don’t YOU quit supporting a cop killer and making excuses for him, his bad family, his bad brother, blah, blah, blah. Why don’t YOU distance yourself from this kind of lifestyle and make yourself into a good, productive citizen? Perhaps you could even become a LE officer, or fireman, or EMT-and actually serve someone other than your own selfish needs/wants.
