Mobile police say the accidental shooting death of a 14-year-old boy was not accidental after all. Charges have now been upgraded to murder.

14-year-old Nubian James was shot in the head December 8th at a home on Woodlawn Drive South. James was transported to USA Medical Center where he died Thursday night.

Homicide investigators originally thought James and two other teenagers were playing with a gun when it accidentally went off. A 15-year-old was charged with assault and those charges were upgraded to manslaughter when James died.

Police now say the 15-year-old intentionally shot James and have charged him with murder.

Williamson High School, where James was an honor student, is holding a memorial in his honor Tuesday morning.

this is a tragedy for all involved. let God be the judge and the jury.please for the family of nubian this is not the time to hold hatred in your heart . please find a way to forgive because God always has forgiviness for his children when we ask for it. Nubians mother said that nubian was and is her hero well, take that and prove it. according to Nubians mother he was well liked respectful and very smart and intelligent. lets take that and learn from it. lets begin by loving more. the devil has had his way for to long with our children, lets take our children back from the devil.Nubian brought joy to everyones life that he touched lets not let that die. i plead with the mother and family of both children involved lets embrace each other and find some good out of this tragedy.
