It appeared as though everything went as planned as 2009 was brought in with a giant Moonpie in Mobile Wednesday night.
Thousands were on hand a Cooper Riverside Park in downtown Mobile as the Moonpie was hoisted at Midnight to mark the end of 2008 and the beginning of 2009.
Fireworks over the Mobile River also makred the occasion.
The New Year's celebration was seen live, right here on WKRG.com.

Thanks!  I’ll take all I can get.  Headed home today. LOL!

Now that is just plain SILLY. Everyone knows the Twinkie was originally made in Chicago and Memphis has the highest PER CAPTITA Consumption of them. Silly people.

380 cities in america heard about the moonpie scandal.  12,000 people showed up to see the stupidity.  And we wonder why our schools can’t afford toilet paper for the kids to use. If we get the billions of dollars for the tanker contracts, will these brilliant officials use it to buy a 20 foot twinkie????

Whatever, you can have my share of mobile, always has been and always will be a one moon pie city.

Poison…  That’s a good idea. It could be used to head the first float of the season. That is if some car dealership is going to step forward and voluteer to provide some trucks to haul. Otherwise, you’d better hope some of these organizations have some horses trained to PULL.

Crazy8 I was directing it to you since you took quotes from every post I put.  Didn’t put your name because you didn’t put mines (trying to be respectful). I am glad you are taking me so seriously (LOL).  I still love Mobile with or without the moonpie fiasco and your comments. Thanks for the chuckle.  I was already done…Good-bye :o).

Someone else said something smart, Life goes on and it’s a shame to spend a small part of it worry about?

If “the rulers of Mobile”

“hot spot for tourist”—(gotta see that battleship)

Back home i assume you are directing your response back to me

you are right,i am not worried one bit,(i laugh at mobile everyday)i’ve lived here a long time, nothing changes, whether you vote or not—-remember mike dow and his campaign promise—vote for me and we will not build the white elephant convention center—well guess what happened, ive never set foot in the place -but i’m sure it has reaped millions.i don’t think a moon pie is progress—the tanker is,,,but if we appear to be idiots, who wants us to build their machinery.anyway i.m done with this. bye

Sorry about the grammar, didn’t re-read before posting.

Didn’t think of using it for the Mardi Gras…..that’s a great idea!

Sorry someone, like i said i forgot too quickly and to let you know this is my hometown and I am in an area that needs a lot of attention also.  I Also work hard everday so please don’t be under the impression that I don’t.  I came here to visit my family and have a good time and I will thank the city that I grew up in in the fashion that I see fit so Again, I had a great time and what’s done is done.  Someone else said something smart, they said that you have the power to Vote the people out that you don’t want-do that.  Life goes on and it’s a shame to spend a small part of it worry about something that is done.  If “the rulers of Mobile” and want to make this a “hot spot for tourist” and you would like to keep things the same as it has been with no progress than by all means do you duty and vote them out.  The glass will never fill if things never change.  I enjoyed myself and I will be back for my family with hopes that this whole situation has been fixed in the future.
