Police spokeswoman Jacqueline Bridgeforth said Thursday the

primate502002, I agree with most of what you said except ——“an ak-47 is only a hunting rifle unless it has been modified to fire automatically which requires a federal firearms permit to own.”
__
1st: An AK-47 does NOT require any modification in order to be a fully automatic, only a flip of the switch.
2nd:I’ve hunted for 23 years, and I do not know ANYONE who uses a AK-47 to hunt with. 90% of those which are owned, are owned by non-licensed individuals, who do not intend to hunt or do any other LEGAL activities.
3rd: If you or anyone you know is using an AK-47 to hunt with, please inform us others so that we can be sure to stay at least half a mile away from that area. To hunt with such a high-powered rifle in the State of Alabama, or most of the other Continental States is completely unnecessary.

i also think this is irresponsible reporting and sensationalism at the least, to combine the two articles that arn’t related. where was he arrested? there are certain parts of mobile that get the most 911 calls for this every year. i’d like to see the police beef up their plain-clothes foot patrols of these areas in advance of this event next year, and catch more of these people.and before anyone starts on me,keep this in mind, more people are killed in car accidents per year than gun related accidents. should we take your car away from you simply because there are people/criminals driving, that choose to break the law? thank god this little girl is ok and my heart goes out to her family. and yes, they need to lock this other man up. i mean if we have the money to pay city workers to hoist that yellow abomination, we can certainly pay for some extra police protection.

ksjd-21 is the age for a pistol permit http://www.mobileso.com/PistolPermit.aspx you don’t have to have a permit for a rifle or shotgun. and the pistol permit is for concealed carry only.an ak-47 is only a hunting rifle unless it has been modified to fire automatically which requires a federal firearms permit to own.an ak is simply put a shortened .308 caliber round same as probably a lot of deer rifles.and try to remember you’re allowed to own guns under the second ammendment not to hunt with or defend yourself against burglars or criminals.. but to defend yourself against your government.you can’t enslave a people unless they are disarmed first.
“If someone is so fearful that, that they are going to start using their weapons to protect their rights, makes me nervous that these people have these weapons at all”.
Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA)

They revised the article.

They recieved 119 calls. Not that they recieved a 911 call.

Yeah, he is only 20.

specialized permit or not you have to be 25 in the state of alabama to even get a handgun permit so he is carrrying that gun illegally or it was not his.

Anyone dialed 119 yet to see who answers?  LOL

AK-47 does sound kind of heavy duty!  I thought shotguns were the weapon of choice for New Year.

DEW26M, I am pretty sure you have to have a special permit to own an AK.  And you had to have obtained it before the ban took place.  Now, I don’t know about this Jeffrey guy.  He wasn’t charges with No Permit, soooo . . . . I can only assume he must have had a permit.  Or someone on the premises did.

I have to wonder why ANYONE would own a AK-47 ? I almost think it’s a misprint and it was probably a SKS. You have to have a specialized permit to own a fully automatic weapon I think. Just having this sort of rifle in your possession without a ATF permit is a fine I believe. Some one correct me if I’m wrong.
