Family and friends of a Baldwin County boy that disappeared a half century ago are remembering their loss. This week marks the 50th anniversary of the disappearance of 5-year-old Danny Barter. The young man disappeared during a family outing in Lillian, June 18th, 1959. Family and friends held a news conference and vigil today, Saturday, June 20th, 2009. Organizers say this tragedy has brought them closer in the last few decades. They hope their calls for help will inspire others.

“Whether you're a baby or an adult, I think this just gives people reminders that there's always hope, that if you hang on to the situation hopefully that person will show back up,” says Danny’s brother Mike Barter. If you have any information on the barter disappearance you're asked to contact the FBI. The family's also set up a website for tips at Dannybarter.com
