According to police, Arthur Rivers was riding an ATV with his two granddaughters, 3-year-old London Johnson and 5-year-old Isces Johnson, Tuesday evening near Chestnut Road in the Beulah Heights Community.
Around 6:15 p.m., they hit a wire that was tied between a fence and a tree. The wire had two "No Trespassing" signs attached to it. Police say Rivers never saw the wire.
Both Rivers and London sustained injuries to their neck. London was pronounced dead at the scene. Rivers was transported to South Baldwin Reginal Medical Center where he was treated and released. Isces was not hurt.
The case is still under investigation.
