LINCOLN, Ala. (AP) - Alabama state troopers say there were no
life-threatening injuries when a Greyhound bus apparently blew a
tire and crashed on Interstate 20 in Talladega County.
Alabama trooper spokesman Charles Dysart said there were 32
people on board the bus that wrecked Monday morning traveling from
Atlanta to Jackson, Miss. He said 21 were taken to several
hospitals in Birmingham, Pell City and Anniston.
Dysart said the condition of those taken to hospitals wasn't
known but none of the injuries was viewed as life-threatening.
The accident occurred about 7 a.m. Monday at exit 165 near
Lincoln.
Troopers said a preliminary investigation indicated a front tire
blew out, causing the bus driver to lose control and crash into a
guardrail and bridge column.
Dysart said the driver was not injured.
