News 5 has learned the identity of the teenage girl Mobile police say was accidentally shot in the head by a friend.

Police say 15-year-old Kellie Beck was at her friend's house on Hunter's Ridge Drive Monday afternoon. The two girls were playing with a .357 magnum. The other girl pointed it at Beck and pulled the trigger.

Beck was transported to Providence Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Her friend was charged with Manslaughter and booked into Strickland Youth Center.

Grieving friends have created a Facebook page in beck's honor. Click here to see it.

Homicide detectives have preliminarily ruled the shooting as an accident. But they have not said whether Beck's friend knew the gun was loaded.

News 5's Kimberly Curth is tracking down new details in the case and will have the latest tonight on News 5 at 5:00 and 6:00.

i know april’s (the girl who shot kellie) family. i am trying to figure out how a 15 year old does not know about guns. even the 9 year old who shot his brother. these are a prime examples of bad parenting.

minimay87 i heard that. i also heard that april’s dad was going to jail for not having the gun put up. but, don’t know if either rumor is true.

kellie’s family needs prayer. all parties involved need prayer. but, i feel most sorry for kellie’s family.

where was the parents in this situation?
and did they not have better sence than to tach theyre kids NOT TO PLAY WITH GUNS!!!
this might b an accident but it would b an accident that would have never occured had it been for the parents doing what was right…
i am 19 years old and my parents raised me to never ever touch a gun. yes alot of parents have guns in the hous, my father had hunting guns MY WHOLE LIFE but, because of my raising… i knew not to mess with them… my condolences go out to the child that lost her life, its very sad young kids are dying everday, and im sorry for the little girl having to go thru this and know she killed her friend…...thanks to her parrents… god bless both familys

dougstech:  how do you know these people are bad people.  just because a bad choice in judgement was made doesn’t make someone a bad person. we should be praying for both families and not critizing them. i’m sure you and everyone else have made bad choices in your life at some point.

seektruth-

It was intentional, unless the girls did not know what guns are for.

Doug, murder is an intentional crime. If it was an accident, this is not murder.

rmseek1234-

I’m still not satisfied on it. The shooter was released on bond, something most murderers do not get.

Hopefully she will get life in prison, or death penalty for her crime. We do not need such a fool on the streets with a weapon.

I remember someone saying that they were a 911 dispatcher or communication worker and that the girls were actually arguing about something and the one girl grabbed the gun, but did not mean for it to go off. However, that was just someone posting on here so you really can not take that as any kind of credible information. The person only posted once, so never heard any more comments from them.

akimbo, actually, something similar did happen with 2 boys from Baker High School in 2000. One boy was killed, and the other is currently in prison. In this case as well, the boy did not think the gun was loaded.

If this involved 2 fifteen year old boys, would it still be a tragic accident or negligent manslaughter?

Dougstech-that is a very odd statement coming from YOU! Had this happened any other way you would say their civil rights were violated, or some such nonsense. Had they been “bad” people and were “off the streets,” by the actions of LE, you would condemn the LE and yell about the injustice, blah, blah, blah. I pity you, really-such a bitter person. You must have a very lonely life.
