EIGHT MILE, Alabama - Prichard police do not plan to charge a driver who hit a 13 year old girl then drove off.

Brianna Parmer was walking home from her bus stop on Glow Ann Drive when she was hit by a car Wednesday afternoon. Brianna says she was about to cross the street when she saw the car and tried to jump back. Her uncle, who witnessed the crash, says she was thrown into the air.

"I flipped and twisted, and I fell," said Brianna, who landed on her book bag, cushioning her fall. "I didn't know what to think. I was so scared. I was screaming," she said.

The driver of the car, a 16 year old Blount High School student, did not stop at the scene, but Prichard police do not plan to charge him with leaving the accident. LaToya Veal, a spokesperson for police, says the teen driver was scared to stop and drove straight to the police department.

Brianna was taken to the hospital and treated for bumps and bruises. She was not seriously hurt, and plans to return to Semmes Middle School next week.

The case will be turned over to District Attorney John Tyson to be reviewed, according to Veal.

What if the girl would have died?  He should of stopped and called 911.  I’m sure when this happened he was on a cell phone.

As to the case in Eight Mile…he knew he hit a person and he went to the police. If he feared for his life,he made a smart move.

Mom2AngelBaby-Please let me be the first to inform you that the media does not report the whole story on every case. Chris is a GREAT kid from a GREAT family. I have no doubt in my mind this was purely an accident. You know, out in this neck of the woods,we have deer and other wildlife. Is it possible he “thought” he hit a deer? God knows,I have almost hit several on these dark roads. And actually hit one a couple of weeks ago on my driveway in broad daylight when she jumped the fence in front of my truck. It happens. Had I been in the same position, in that particular location, with virtually no lighting-I might would have thought deer too. Because the last thing you would expect would be someone WALKING down bloody 98 AT NIGHT! My prayers to both families in this case. Keep your chin up Chris.

Here is a Semmes teen charged with a hit and run. Going to the police station doesn’t excuse you from the fact that you left the scene.  He should have rolled his windows up/locked the doors and call the police or waited for them to show up..I think..Of course I think driving at 16 shouldn’t be allowed anyway.  Kids aren’t responsible as we were at 16. I just cant recall so many traffic accidents that involve young adults. Of course we didn’t have all the distraction as they do now!

And the Sheriff’s Department is about the same distance-so why go to Prichard PD? Maybe he dropped a friend off? Maybe he was smoking dope. I don’t know. None of us do. You could be completely right. I would “think” that the Prichard PD would have filed charges if the smelled weed,or he seemed impaired. I would hope anyway. I am just trying to look at it from a different perspective as to WHY he was scared to stop.

Bama-fan,yes he hit the child. BUT, different perspective here…she said she saw the car and tried to step back-that seems to me she was crossing without looking, and realized a little too late. So do we know he wasn’t paying attention-or she wasn’t?

Somebody get fan07 a step stool, things are going over his head. Don’t know were you live boy, but this here is a residential neighbor.

ickthus: he saved himself a beat down? what the problem is??? he should at least made sure she was okay…it was a little girl in middle school. it was his fault, he should have been paying attention. it’s “what is the problem” or “i’d be scared”.

Yeah, that police station is also about 8 miles away from the crime scene.

What was the driver doing on that dead end street anyway? Hittin’ a blunt after a long day at Blount?

It doesn’t. And you are right,it could have been a scared white kid. My bad. Either way, they did go to the PD right away. Unlike the other recent hit and run that claimed a life, and it was what 2 weeks later before the kid turned himself in?

But in all honesty, Prichard PD is kind of hard to find, unless you know where you are going. Thus, why I thought it was a black kid. But it really doesn’t matter in the big picture.

Where does it say the driver was black?
