Get your resume ready. 1,200 new jobs will soon be available in our area.

Governor Bob Riley and Mobile County Commissioner Merceria Ludgood announced Wednesday that Atlanta-based Ryla Inc. has selected Saraland as the site for its new regional headquarters, corporate data center and regional call center. It will be located in the Old Hertz Building on Highway 43.

Riley says this will create more than 1,200 new jobs. The average salary will be $21,754 plus bonuses and benefits. Ryla hopes to fill the first 400 jobs by early summer and the remaining 800 by the end of 2011.

“This is probably the only announcement of more than 1,000 new jobs taking place in America today and it’s happening here in Alabama,” said Governor Riley. “We are proud to welcome Ryla to our state and look forward to a long and prosperous partnership.”

Mark Wilson, who co-founded Ryla with his wife, Shelly Wilson in 2001, serves as the company’s president and chief executive officer. Wilson said significant growth created the need to increase operations outside of the Georgia area.

“We are proud to be expanding into the Mobile area by hiring and creating more than 1,000 new jobs over the next few years,” said Wilson. “Ryla applauds the Governor, as well as state and local leadership for approving incentives that fuel economic development and create employment opportunities domestically.”

Hertz is moving, dont know where, but they are moving to a smaller location.

Did Hertz close down?

87k OK so is the taxpayer going to get that money in return on taxes to the company?

$175,000 over the next two years is $87,500 a year.

Is it really a good thing to pay 350k to get business to come here, givin the state our county is in money wise, schools closing, teacher lay-offs/  Will the county recoup this money in taxes in the same year? I’m not against it, as long as the taxpayers are getting their moneys worth out of this “incintive” the company is getting.

Is this another telemarketing company?

This is great, but I was hoping Riley had good news about EADS.
