MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - The Alabama Department of Public Safetysays at least eleven people died in traffic accidents on state
roads over the three-day Memorial Day holiday weekend.
Corporal Steve Jarrett, a trooper spokesman, said 423 traffic
accidents were investigated over the 72-hour travel period that
ended at midnight Monday.
Jarrett said fatalities occurred in Pickens, Cullman, Baldwin,
Morgan, Shelby, Tuscaloosa, Blount and Etowah counties.
In 2008 three people died in accidents on Alabama roads over the
Memorial Day weekend.
